Gorgeous vocals & high-flying strings
Americana, bluegrass, country and folk from the Washington DC metro area. New music available now — the Cast Iron Cure EP.
Tornado Rose delivers an uplifting blend of Americana, bluegrass, country and folk with gorgeous vocals and high-flying strings. Lead singer and songwriter Brooke Bell's voice shines with an enchanting power and clarity, beautifully supported by rich bass lines, captivating melodies and smooth solos.
Brooke is a multi-instrumentalist on the guitar, autoharp and fiddle, and her exceptional vocal abilities complement her songwriting, which often reflects her experience growing up in Independence, Kansas. She earned first place in the Love Song Category for her song "Wilderwood Flower" at the 2014 Winfield Bluegrass Festival.
Tornado Rose was born on May 21, 2011, when the band survived a massive EF5 tornado in a campground bathroom at Pomona Lake, Kansas. As they survived the tumultuous night and witnessed the dawn's early light, they emerged with a profound respect for life and a newfound sound. And it was Brooke Bell who blossomed as the rose that emerged from that chaotic tornado.
Steeped in the rich traditions of the Kansas plains, the band has set their sights eastward to the Washington, DC metro area, weaving the soulful sounds of Appalachia into their ever-evolving tapestry.
Recorded with Dewey Boyd at Forty-One Fifteen studio in Nashville, the Cast Iron Cure EP features performances from standout musicians including IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year Maddie Denton and Lucas White on guitar.
Catch Tornado Rose live across the DC, Maryland and Eastern Shore area, plus festival dates in Kansas and Oklahoma.
Tornado Rose is available for private events, weddings, festivals, corporate gatherings, house concerts, and more throughout the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Mid-Atlantic region.
